For your computer to run at top performance, you need your drivers to be up to date. What are your drivers you ask? Well your drivers are what makes every thin in your computer work. Every piece of device has a driver, and every driver has a purpose. Something very important to remember about drivers is they must be up to date. If you don’t take care of them, your computer can go through some serious errors. Some types of drivers are as follows: audio drivers, graphic drivers, printer, keyboard, mouse, camera, web cams etc. However, your keyboard and mouse drivers usually already come installed on the operating system when purchased.
When you start to notice a problem with your drivers, don’t ignore it. Ignoring the problem can really make it worse; simply try to fix the problem.
First uninstall the driver and re install it. Once that is finished, check the driver for efficiency. If the driver is still giving you a hard time, try and disable it. Once disabled take a moment to re enable the driver, and see if that helps it. Still not having any luck? Check your driver, and then run a scan on your drivers. It is possible that a newer driver or several newer drivers have come out since you purchased your product that the driver belongs to. If this is the case, a simple driver update should do the trick.
How do I use this information?
There are a few ways for you to obtain the information needed to make a diagnosis. One way is to go to your desktop, right click on My Computer, then click Properties. Once you click Properties, click Hardware and then Device Manager.
Once done accomplishing the task of bringing up the Device Manager, you need to check for anything weird on the screen. What I mean by weird things are exclamation marks, red marks, or question marks. These entail that there is a problem, or no driver was found. To correct these problems, pay attention closely.
When you see a red ‘x’, this simply means that the driver is disabled. To fix this, simply right click, click properties, and then click enable. This will allow for the driver to work, and will fix that problem. If there is an exclamation mark appearing, then the driver is out of date. Right click the name, and click on Update Driver. This will ensure you have the most recent version on your computer. Last but not least, a question mark shows that there is no driver found. Meaning, it is not yet installed on your computer. If you have the disk, go ahead and slip it in, if not you can find the driver online.
If you’re missing a lot of drivers, download Driver Magician, and download the software. This will run a scan, tell you which ones you need, and will get them for you.
